About
A stage for stories without borders
Podium Biarritz Foundation, launched by Corine Meijers in the beginning of 2025, initiates, produces and distributes audiovisual projects that cross borders. We develop our own projects, but we also love collaborating with filmmakers, artists and partners from all over the world to produce and stage stories with a lot of heart that are relevant to our trying times.
Podium Biarritz is the stage we want to give to impressive and relevant stories, films, installations, immersive experiences and cross-disciplinary projects. We aim to do that through various events, partnerships, festivals and tailer made gatherings together with YOU!
We cross borders in 1) form, technology and subject matter, 2) in collaboration with filmmakers, artists & partners and 3) in audience reach, distributed on multiple platforms.
Themes & audiences
Podium Biarritz focuses on projects in innovative ways, that have a sense of urgency and makes us look at a variety of socially relevant topics such as technology, art, science, digitalization, migration, care, nature, climate and LGBTQI+. The stories aim to give insights, entertain, inspire, charm and sometimes amaze. Across all, we focus on non-mainstream stories that reveal something to us about the time in which we live, that can speak to anyone and everyone in our society, regardless of age, race, gender, background or species.
By creating an active exchange between maker(s) and audiences our projects often lead to personal and social impact with which we aim to improve the world.
Collaboration
The Podium Biarritz Foundation is related to Studio Biarritz but not limited by this bond in any way and is open to many kinds of collaborations in the Netherlands and abroad.
Our podium is therefore created to be shared with others. While we thrive on long term collaboration with many of our established makers, we also cover new work relations and uncharted ground by connecting with other makers in terms of education and experience, in cultural background and/or cross-disciplinary, and by connecting with partners with whom we can bring a tailor-made approach to each project.
We also often work as a coach and mentor, by sharing expertise with people and organizations that have their own (immersive) projects and want to know more about the production process, financing, outreach and distribution of it.
By working on projects with a variety of socially relevant topics and giving extra attention to diverse collaborations, Podium Biarritz aims to carry inclusivity as part of its DNA.

Julia Ton
Julia Ton, a BIFA award winning and BAFTA longlisted producer, runs London- and Amsterdam-based production company Project 1961. She specializes in community-led and socially-conscious filmmaking that produces films and docs that aim to entertain. Julia is a producer with over 15 years of experience in fiction, creative documentaries and animation. Her latest production is multi-award winning Grand Theft Hamlet by Pinny Grylls and Sam Crane, which she produced with Rebecca Wolff. GTH is released in UK and US cinemas and will be on MUBI early 2025. Over the years, she has set up over a dozen European co-productions.
Janneke Gulen
Janneke Gulen is the program leader of Social Innovation & Inclusion at ROC Amsterdam/Flevoland and an advocate for inclusive, innovative education. With a background in youth care, she learned that young people often hold the key to their own growth, if we are willing to learn from them.
Driven by the belief that education is the path to full participation in society, Janneke develops programs like Izone, which give students the freedom to pursue their passions and take control of their own learning process. She is committed to building an educational system where vocational (MBO) students are valued just as much as their academic peers.
Through initiatives like Podium Biarritz, she helps amplify voices that often go unheard, contributing to a richer and more inclusive society.
Nasim Miradi
In 2007, Nasim Miradi graduated in Film and Television Studies from Utrecht University, including a year studying Television Production at Middlesex University in London. Nasim subsequently worked for various film festivals, including the Netherlands Film Festival, IDFA, and Amsterdam Film Week. In her roles at organizations such as WOMEN Inc. and De Balie, Nasim has organized numerous events.
Currently, as the artistic director of Dawn Collective, Nasim uses her production experience to develop projects that fulfill a personal need for stories in which she recognises herself and the world around her. She has previously staged productions such as “De “Brieven van Mia (ages 4+), “Noumi, z”use seven (ages 5+), and “Happy in Holland.” Nasim also initiated “Princess Arabella – the musical” in the same way.
